Our Events

December

(Reduced Inequalities )

Human rights stand for equality, for participatory and inclusive societies that dismantle the structures of discrimination which drive poverty and inequality. When everyone can claim their human rights, no one can be left behind. Human rights are not only the right way, but the smart way to accelerate progress for more equitable and sustainable development. Join us in dialogue with experts in Uganda and Germany to discuss about the role of human rights in empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality in our communities.

November

(Climate Change)

Africa contributes less than 4% of global GHG emissions. However, Africa is among the most vulnerable continents to climate change. The risks of climate change pose direct and indirect threats on the lives of African people and sustainable development aspirations in Africa. It has resulted in extreme weather events, droughts and variability in rainfall affecting the largely rain-fed agricultural systems throughoutthe continent, thereby contributing to food insecurity, poverty, loss of livelihoods, and damaged infrastructure.

October

(Zero Hunger)

On average, four out of every ten Ugandans are unable to meet the required dietary intake. While the SDGs are hinged on the premise that no one is left behind, the findings reveal uneven progress in improving the food security situation across the country. This is not helped by the increased levels of household poverty as many economies recover from the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Join us in dialogue with experts in Africa and Germany to understand ways on how we can overcome the hurricane of hunger in Sub-Saharan Africa.

September

(All SDGs: UN Agenda 2030)

With less than a decade to go, data from the SDG center for Africa shows that up until 2019, Africa was relatively on track to meet three goals: SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 13 (climate action), and SDG 15 (life on land). The Covid-19 pandemic has set the continental progress years behind in all African regions except North Africa are unlikely to meet the SDGs. Africa’s failure to attain the SDGs will have implications everywhere on the planet. Join us to learn about how we can individually contribute towards accelerating this journey.
